Ana Rendón Sanders has been working as a jeweler in her Boulder, Utah studio since 2011. She completed her BFA at Northern Arizona University in 1999. Although her formal training in metalsmithing began there, she primarily worked with both stoneware and earthenware ceramic sculpture. In 2000, she exhibited a collection of her ceramic sculpture at NAU’s Old Main Art Gallery alongside fine art professors from other Arizona universities.
After her studies, Ana traveled through Europe and Morocco before she eventually found her way to Boulder where she felt she wanted to root herself and allow her life to blossom. Life there has taken her down many creative paths: working in gardens, learning the art and craft of primitive pottery, spinning various fibers and felting wool.
Ana’s current work in metalsmithing celebrates the plasticity and intrinsic beauty of silver, brass and gold. At times working with semi-precious stones and vitreous enamels, her overall focus is in forged metals.
