Over the last few decades, Jessica Frogley has been a University English professor in Utah and Washington, a Forest Ranger in Escalante, a professional Jazz Vocalist, a music teacher, a professional food writer, a published poet, a licensed massage therapist, a facilitator for Embodied Emotional Processing, and now to her delight and constant surprise, an artist. A long illness in 2020 led Frogley to turn her life-long habit of casual doodling into a more concerted effort. Since that time she has drawn hundreds of portraits of native birds, refining her distinctive style. Always captured on black paper, her birds are known for their fine detail, texture, and the personality and facial expressions she somehow (how does this happen?!) manages to capture. She is flabbergasted every time a face emerges on the page.
Frogley is a long-time resident of Boulder, UT where she lives with her dog, Verbena and her cat, Winter.
She is currently accepting commissions. You can follow Jessica on Instagram @frogleyjessica.
