Those of you who are familiar with our amazing and beautiful Wayne County, Utah, have no doubt realized that we are completely obsessed with the weather. Somehow, it is the one thing that guides our lives here. It is the determining factor for our tourist visitors - if we have snow just before Memorial Day weekend, there will definitely be fewer tent campers! If the daily temperatures continue to be cooler than normal, we will attract many more enthusiastic hikers!
The art in our Gallery speaks so precisely to this obsession. It’s all about wildly moving cloud formations, thunderstorms coming and going, hailstorms creating fields of ice, expanses of grasses and alfalfa, rows of hay bales in the early morning, layer upon layer of red rock and sandstone, and the light. We have the most unbelievable, intoxicating light. Once you experience it, you will never forget. Whether your tool of choice is a brush or a pen or a lens, the light will haunt you forever. And for those of you who are art appreciators or collectors, you will soon be equally transfixed. We are visual prisoners.
I certainly do not mean to overlook the rest of our terrific collection; Jim Stewart’s ceramic sculptures, Robert White’s tantalizing carved birds and fish, Craig’s hanging platters, Jeff’s raku spheres, Ron’s hand built furniture, Brian’s found metal sculpture, Ana and Pearl and Teri’s jewelry, Melody’s fine felted vessels, and on and on.
And although our works are representative of the entire Colorado plateau, the painters and photographers we show are all from right here in Torrey and Teasdale. When you come to visit and hike and wander in the streams, do not miss any of our walls and table tops here at Gallery 24! We are here Thursday through Monday from 11-5, closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you need to visit on one of our closed days, no worries! Just ring us up - our numbers are posted in the window.
