Patricia Priebe-Swanson, a former paralegal from Washington State, is a self-taught artist who was inspired to begin painting in 2001 after moving to the Capitol Reef National Park area.
The red rock country of southern Utah is Pat's inspiration. Her paintings utilize watercolor and ink to capture the detail, pattern and color of the red rock country. Exploring the landscape, the process of learning to see and interpret is the artistic niche that is now an essential part of her life.
She has participated in many shows: Courthouse Gallery Show, Provo, Utah; Anasazi Museum Show, Boulder, Utah, 2005, 2006, 2007; Utah Images, Salt Lake City, Utah, 2005, 2010; Rose Wagner Gallery, Salt Lake City, Utah; Salt Lake Community College Presidents Show; Dixie Invitational, 2007, 2011, 2012, First Place and Honorable Mention twice. Images of Pat's work have been featured in Red Rock Wilderness Magazine, 2001, 2003, 2014, and in the book Painters of Utah's Canyons and Deserts.
